Nomad eSIM review: prices, plans, unlimited data, networks and the Nomad Pass

Nomad eSIM review: how its prices compare, what the unlimited plans and the Nomad Pass include, networks, refund rules and user ratings, from our daily data.

Guides · 11 October 2026 · 8 min read

Nomad is a good choice if you want clear network information, 30-day plans in more than 200 countries and prices that are usually lower than those of other big brands. It is not the cheapest option overall, its unlimited plans are short and limited to 2 GB a day at full speed, and its Europe “Nomad Pass” subscription has drawn complaints about cancelling. In our ranking Nomad scores highest of the large app-based brands, with points deducted for those terms. This Nomad eSIM review is based on the plan data we collect every day and on published user ratings.

Nomad at a glance: our verdict

Nomad is run by LotusFlare, a US company, and sells its plans through its own app and website. The table sums up what our database shows (October 2026):

PointNomad
CompanyLotusFlare, United States
Country plansAbout 207 countries, plus regional and global plans
Fixed data plans1 GB for 7 days; 3, 5, 10, 20 and 50 GB mostly for 30 days
Unlimited plansAbout 70 countries; mostly 3 to 10 days; 2 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps
Networks and 5GNetwork named for over 90% of plans; around 650 plans with 5G
Top-upPossible for all plans
Price levelBelow Airalo and Saily in most countries; mid-range overall
User ratingsAbout 4.6 stars from around 120,000 ratings
  • Strong points: wide coverage, network and 5G information for almost every plan, generous 30-day validity, top-ups on every plan and good ratings.
  • Weaker points: short unlimited plans with a low daily allowance, a subscription in Europe that some customers found hard to cancel, and strict refund rules for some plans.

Nomad's current score, prices and all plans are on its provider page, updated daily.

Nomad plans: sizes, validity and regional packages

Nomad keeps its country plans consistent: 1 GB valid for 7 days, and 3, 5, 10, 20 or 50 GB valid for 30 days. Some destinations add 20 and 50 GB packages valid for 45 days. That makes Nomad one of the more generous providers on validity, which helps if you travel for two to four weeks and do not want to watch the calendar. Every Nomad plan can also be topped up in the app if you run out of data.

For trips through several countries, Nomad sells regional plans with clear names, for example:

  • Europe with around 35 countries, and a separate Balkans plan.
  • Asia: APAC plans with 14 or 21 countries, Southeast Asia–Oceania, Greater China, and small bundles such as Singapore–Malaysia–Thailand or China–Japan–Korea.
  • The Americas: North America (USA, Canada, Mexico), Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • Middle East: a plan for the Gulf states, and a Global plan with more than 120 countries.

As always with regional plans, check the country list before you buy. On the Nomad provider page you can search for a country and see every Nomad plan that covers it.

How Nomad's prices compare

Against the other big brands, Nomad does well. In our comparison of country plans with the same amount of data, Nomad was cheaper than both Airalo and Saily in most countries for 5, 10 and 20 GB; the details are in Airalo vs Saily vs Nomad.

Against the whole market, the picture changes. For a 5 GB country plan with at least 7 days of validity, Nomad was the cheapest of all providers we list in only 2 of about 200 countries at the time of writing, and among the three cheapest in around 20. Smaller providers usually sell the same data for less, as the table for the USA shows:

Cheapest USA eSIM plans by data amount
DataValidityPricePer GBProvider
1 GB7 days€0.43€0.43Stellar eSIMView plan
2 GB10 days$0.95 (€0.85)€0.43eSIM.dogView plan
3 GB12 days$1.49 (€1.33)€0.44eSIM.dogView plan
5 GB7 days$2.32 (€2.08)€0.42eSIM.dogView plan
10 GB7 days$4.01 (€3.59)€0.36eSIM.dogView plan
20 GB7 days$8.00 (€7.16)€0.36eSIM.dogView plan
50 GB7 days$20.04 (€17.94)€0.36eSIM.dogView plan
Cheapest plan per data amount with at least 7 days of validity. Prices checked daily, last check 2 November 2026.

So Nomad is a sensible middle ground: cheaper than the best-known brands, more transparent than many small ones, but rarely the lowest price. Compare it on our destination pages, sorted by price, and check our promo codes before you pay.

Nomad unlimited: 2 GB a day and short validities

Nomad sells unlimited plans for around 70 countries. Almost all of them include 2 GB a day at full speed and then continue at about 1 Mbps until the next day. Most are sold for 3, 5, 7 or 10 days; longer unlimited plans are rare.

A 2 GB daily allowance is enough for maps, messaging and social media, and 1 Mbps afterwards still works for music and video calls at reduced quality. It is lower than at Airalo, which mostly offers 3 GB, or Saily with 3 to 5 GB. If you stream a lot or share your connection, compare the daily allowance carefully. Note also that, according to Nomad's refund policy, its unlimited plans are non-refundable.

The table shows the cheapest unlimited plans of all providers for the USA, with a column for plans that keep at least 2 GB a day at full speed:

“Unlimited” plans slow down after a daily full-speed allowance; the right column only counts plans that state at least 2 GB per day. Prices checked daily, last check 2 November 2026.

For longer trips, a large fixed plan with 30 days of validity is often the better deal with Nomad. Our guide Unlimited eSIM plans: how unlimited are they really? explains the trade-offs.

Networks, 5G and coverage

Transparency is one of Nomad's strengths. It names the partner network for more than 90% of its plans in our database, for example AT&T and Verizon in the USA, and around 650 plans state 5G. That gives Nomad full marks for transparency in our score and lets you check before you buy whether a plan uses the network you want.

Whether you actually get 5G also depends on your phone and local coverage; where 5G is not available, the plan uses 4G/LTE. With country plans for around 207 countries and territories, Nomad also has one of the widest coverage lists in our database, which is why it reaches the maximum for coverage in our ranking.

Nomad Pass, refunds and what our score deducts

Nomad's terms have two points worth knowing before you buy, and our score deducts points for both:

  • The Europe “Nomad Pass” is a subscription that renews every 30 days. Since July 2026 several customers have reported that it is hard to cancel and that they kept being charged. If you take the Pass, check under Manage in the Nomad app how to cancel it, and set a reminder before the renewal date.
  • Refunds: according to Nomad's refund policy, all unlimited plans, the Nomad Pass, UK voice plans and the Thailand 10-day 50 GB plan are non-refundable, even if the eSIM was never installed. Other plans can be refunded within 30 days if the eSIM has not been installed or activated.

None of this is unusual on its own, but together it means you should choose carefully: buy the plan you actually need, and prefer a one-off plan over the Pass if you only travel once. Our methodology page explains how documented customer issues affect a provider's score.

What users say: ratings and our score

Nomad's users rate it well across all platforms. In early October 2026:

SourceRatingNumber of ratings
App Store4.8 out of 5more than 60,000
Google Play4.6 out of 5almost 17,000
Trustpilot4.3 out of 5almost 45,000

In our score, Nomad reaches the maximum for coverage and transparency, does well on user ratings and sits in the middle on price. Plan terms pull it down because of the deductions described above. Overall, it ranked above Airalo and Saily at the time of writing. The score is recalculated daily; see our methodology page for how it works.

Who Nomad suits, and when to look elsewhere

Nomad is a good choice if you:

  • want a well-known app with clear network information before you buy,
  • travel for two to four weeks and value 30-day validity on every size,
  • want a regional plan with a clear country list, for example for Europe, Asia or the Americas.

Look elsewhere if you:

  • want the lowest price for a given amount of data; smaller providers are often cheaper on our destination pages,
  • need unlimited data for more than ten days or more than 2 GB a day at full speed,
  • need calls and SMS in most countries; see our Airalo review for an alternative with plus plans.

Before installing, check that your phone supports eSIM: see how to check eSIM compatibility.
