Yesim review: prices, day-by-day unlimited plans, networks and ratings of the Swiss travel eSIM

Yesim review: what the Swiss travel eSIM costs, how its day-by-day unlimited plans work, which networks it uses, its coverage and user ratings.

Guides · 12 October 2026 · 8 min read

Yesim is a good travel eSIM if you want an unlimited plan for exactly the number of days you travel and like to know which network you will use, but it is rarely the cheapest option for small data packages. The Swiss provider sells plans for about 190 countries and territories, names the partner network for almost every country plan and lets you choose unlimited plans day by day, from 1 to 30 days. User ratings are good, while its prices are usually in the upper half of the market. This Yesim review is based on the plan data we collect every day and on published user ratings.

Yesim at a glance: our verdict

Yesim is run by Genesis Group AG, a company based in Baar, Switzerland. The table sums up what our database shows about the provider (October 2026):

PointYesim
CompanyGenesis Group AG, Baar, Switzerland
CoverageAbout 190 countries and territories, plus regional and global plans
Fixed data plans1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 30 GB, almost all valid for 30 days; small one-day packages in about 90 countries
Unlimited plansAny length from 1 to 30 days in about 150 countries; no daily allowance stated
Networks and 5GPartner network named for almost every country plan; 5G on about 60 % of plans
Top-upPossible for most plans
Price levelUsually in the more expensive half for comparable packages
User ratingsAround 4.6 stars from about 50,000 ratings
  • Strong points: flexible unlimited plans you can match to your trip, clear network and 5G information, wide coverage with many regional plans, top-ups and good app ratings.
  • Weaker points: higher prices than most competitors for comparable packages, no stated speed rules for the unlimited plans, and hotspot use confirmed for only a few destinations.

Yesim's current score, prices and all plans are on its provider page, which we update daily.

Yesim plans and prices: how they are structured

For most countries, Yesim offers three kinds of plans:

  • Fixed data for 30 days: 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and in many countries 30 GB. Almost all are valid for 30 days, so even a short trip uses a 30-day plan.
  • One-day packages: in about 90 countries, small packages of 100 to 500 MB for 24 hours, useful for a stopover.
  • Unlimited: plans for any number of days from 1 to 30 in about 150 countries (see the next section).

On price, Yesim is not a budget provider. We compared the cheapest 5 GB plan of every provider in 20 popular destinations. Yesim was in the more expensive half almost everywhere: its median position was 28th out of 38 providers, close to the median price in Thailand, India and the United Arab Emirates, and among the most expensive offers in Spain and Turkey. The picture is similar for 20 GB plans, where its median position was 27th out of 37. Across all its country plans, Yesim's typical price per gigabyte is mid-range, partly because it sells many large packages, but for a given package size it is usually not among the cheaper offers.

Yesim unlimited plans: pick the exact number of days

Yesim's unlimited plans work differently from most competitors. Instead of fixed lengths such as 7, 15 or 30 days, you choose any number of days from 1 to 30. The price per day stays the same for up to a week and then falls: in the destinations we checked, a 30-day plan costs about half as much per day as a 7-day plan.

What the plan data does not say is how fast the connection stays. Most unlimited plans in our database state a daily full-speed allowance, for example 2 GB a day, and the speed after it. Yesim states neither. Its help pages say that Yesim itself does not set a fair-use limit, but the partner networks can slow down very heavy use, and some user reviews describe slower speeds on unlimited plans. If you plan to stream a lot or share your connection all day, a plan with a stated allowance gives you more certainty.

“Unlimited” plans slow down after a daily full-speed allowance; the right column only counts plans that state at least 2 GB per day. Prices checked daily, last check 2 November 2026.

The table shows the cheapest unlimited plans for Japan from all providers. For 7-day unlimited plans, Yesim was in the more expensive half in most of the destinations we checked, and around the median for the USA. Our guide Unlimited eSIM plans: how unlimited are they really? explains how to compare the different rules.

Coverage, networks and regional plans

Yesim covers about 190 countries and territories with country plans and adds a wide set of regional plans:

  • Europe & UK: 36 countries in one plan.
  • Asia: separate plans for Asia Pacific (21 countries), South East Asia (10) and Central Asia (9).
  • Other regions: Africa (20 countries), the Balkans (18), South America (14), the Caribbean (13), the Middle East (10) and North America (4).
  • Global: two global plans with around 170 countries each.

Transparency on networks is one of Yesim's strengths. Almost every country plan in our database names the local partner network, for example KDDI in Japan or AIS and DTAC in Thailand, and states whether 5G is included; about 60 % of Yesim's plans include 5G. That makes it easy to compare with the network tables on our destination pages, such as Japan or Thailand. On the Yesim provider page you can search for a country and see every Yesim plan that covers it.

Top-up, hotspot, refunds and other terms

  • Top-up: most Yesim plans can be topped up in the app, so you can add data to the same eSIM instead of installing a new one.
  • Hotspot: Yesim confirms hotspot use only for a small number of destinations, such as Japan. For most countries it says that tethering depends on the local operator, so you cannot be sure before you buy.
  • Calls and SMS: Yesim's travel plans are data-only. Use messaging apps for calls, or keep your home SIM active for calls and texts.
  • Refunds: according to Yesim's terms, you can get a refund within 30 days if the eSIM has not been installed or activated; small amounts of up to 10 euros are refunded as in-app credit.
  • Automatic renewal: optional; plans renew automatically only if you switch it on.
Before buying, check that your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked; see how to check eSIM compatibility.

What users say: ratings and our score

Yesim has a sizeable and well-rated user base. In early October 2026, its ratings were:

SourceRatingNumber of ratings
Google Play4.65 out of 5almost 28,000
App Store4.6 out of 5more than 19,000
Trustpilot4.3 out of 5almost 3,000

In our score, Yesim gets full marks for coverage and does well on user ratings and transparency. It loses points on plan terms, because hotspot use is confirmed for only a few plans and the unlimited plans do not state any speed rules, and above all on price, where its plans are more expensive than most. Together, that puts it in the middle of our ranking. We have no documented customer problems on record that would lower the score. The score is recalculated every day; the details are on our methodology page.

How to buy and set up a Yesim eSIM

  1. Check your phone supports eSIM and is not locked to a carrier.
  2. Compare the plan on our Yesim page or the destination page, including the network and whether 5G is included.
  3. Buy in the Yesim app or on its website, and apply a promo code at checkout if you have one.
  4. Install the eSIM at home over WiFi, using the app or the QR code, and read in the plan details when the validity starts.
  5. After arrival, switch mobile data to the Yesim eSIM and turn on data roaming for it. Keep data roaming off on your home SIM.

Step-by-step instructions are in our guides for iPhone and Android; if the connection does not work, see eSIM not working abroad.

Who Yesim suits, and when to look elsewhere

Yesim is a good choice if you:

  • want an unlimited plan that matches the exact length of your trip,
  • want to know the partner network and 5G before you buy,
  • travel through several regions and like one app with many regional plans,
  • need a small one-day package for a stopover.

Look elsewhere if you:

  • want the lowest price for a fixed amount of data; the tables on our destination pages are sorted by price,
  • need a guaranteed daily full-speed allowance on an unlimited plan,
  • want to share your connection and need hotspot confirmed in advance.

If you are comparing providers, our reviews of Saily, Airalo and Nomad use the same data, and our guide eSIM discounts shows where the real savings are.

Questions travellers ask

Is Yesim a Swiss company?+

Yes. Yesim is run by Genesis Group AG, which is based in Baar in the canton of Zug, Switzerland. It sells travel eSIM plans for about 190 countries and territories through its own app and website.

Does Yesim have unlimited data?+

Yes. Yesim sells unlimited plans for about 150 countries, and you can choose any length from 1 to 30 days. The plan data does not state a daily full-speed allowance; Yesim says it sets no fair-use limit itself, but partner networks may slow down very heavy use.

Is Yesim cheap?+

Not usually. In our comparison of 5 GB and 20 GB plans in 20 destinations, Yesim was in most cases in the more expensive half of about 38 providers. Its strengths are the flexible unlimited plans, the network information and its coverage rather than the lowest price.

Can I use a hotspot with Yesim?+

It depends on the destination. Yesim confirms hotspot use for a few countries, such as Japan, but for most it says tethering depends on the local operator. If sharing your connection matters, check the plan details or choose a plan that confirms hotspot.

Does Yesim give you a phone number?+

No. Yesim's travel plans are data-only, without a number for regular calls and SMS. You can call through apps such as WhatsApp, or keep your home SIM active for calls and texts while the Yesim eSIM handles mobile data.

Can I get a refund from Yesim?+

According to Yesim's terms, you can ask for a refund within 30 days if the eSIM has not been installed or activated. Small amounts of up to 10 euros are refunded as credit in the Yesim app rather than to your card.
